Australia vs New Zealand: Aleem Dar is the most experienced arbiter of cricket analysis
Pakistan’s Aleem Dar broke the World Record of Officiating in most Test matches on Thursday, surpassing Steve Bucknor’s previous record of 128 in the West Indies.
Dar achieved the feat by standing in the 1st test between Australia and New Zealand in Perth — the 129th test
The 51-year-old was a first-class cricketer before starting a career in umpiring. He started his international career in the Pakistan Home Series against Sri Lanka in 2000.
Since then, he has been an official in 207 ODIs and is only two short of the world record of 209 matches in that format, currently held by Rudi Koertzen of South Africa.
Dar, though a great umpire of all time, was blamed earlier this year for his decisions during the Ashes.His decision to adjudicate Australia’s Joe Burns our lbw proved to be incorrect even on his big day today as DRS later showed that the inswinger of Colin de Grandhomme was on his way to the missing leg stump of Burns.
