Mahira Khan expressed her support for Aurat March on Wednesday after being the first to speak up against the blatant misogyny of Khalilur Rehman Qamar.
She said, “We’re not marching our own way. We’re marching for those who can’t march for themselves. “The Superstar actor wrote:” As a privileged woman, I’m marching for those who aren’t in my place and who don’t have the fundamental rights I’ve enjoyed since I was born”
I’m sure those who have been organizing the Aurat March are experienced, have been working for years for the cause of women..they have a better idea of what should and should not be done. I write out of pure observation. #WhyIMarch pic.twitter.com/D3AUQYM3Re

“Can we be careful, please, with the slogans and the words we put out? Can we hold placards of the causes that we are fighting for, the issues that we want to resolve, the basic rights and needs of those who suffer because they are either unaware of their rights or are not given to them.”
“Can we keep banners with legislation that we want to put in place and those that hurt women over the years? Don’t we want as many people as we can understand why we’re marching?” She was asked.
“Why do we have to hold posters that are just there to instigate? We are a country that is getting used to the idea of equal rights, me too, times up. As those in a position of power and privilege, all of us should speak a language that a common man would understand.”
She then reiterated, “We don’t march for ourselves. We march for those who cannot march for themselves.”
